1-1. Exterior Sudare (reed blinds) :
Kyo-Sudare is blinds or screens, which has been used for 1400 years in Kyoto. When you walk Kyoto, you will see many exterior Sudare blinds. It is used to shield the verandah from sunlight and rain. It blocks strong sunlight off about 80% or 90%, and it cuts down solar radiation heat. But, their woven structure allows breezes to pass through the room. So, exterior Sudare keeps your room cooler as the shade of a tree. And Sudare protects the inhabitants of the building from the eyes of outsiders.

1-2. Interior Sudare (bamboo blinds) :
The residence of the Japanese nobles was partitioned with an interior Sudare that dressed up with the gorgeous silk, gold embroidery, and tassels.
